Weekend of Happiness

I have had such a fab weekend, its a long time since I have been able to say that.  Saturday hubby and I went to met one of his cousins that he had reaquainted himself with on the dreaded facebook, though this time is was ok facebook hehehehe.  His cousin lived where I was brought up in my childhood so it was doubly exciting for me.  We trotted of into the country of  Laurie Lee who wrote the book called Cider with Rosie, I was like a child in heaven again, there was hills, horses, chickens, old country pubs and the lovely house that Andys cousin lived in.  Hes been renovating it and it looks a bit of a mess in places but in other places it looks gorgeous with lovely views over the open countryside.  I really had a good time, and of course I took a trip down memory lane by going to visit my old house, its still there stuck in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere with just a farm  and a country house for neighbours and cows in the field .... pure heaven lol.  

Sunday evening we were invited by a neighbour for nibbles and drinks, and we had a great time there too.  I didnt really want to go but I have to admit it was actually fun.  The neighbour is quite poorly, he has had double bypass operation, hip replacement and has prostrate cancer but he is the most positive and happiest person around and it was a pleasure to go visit him and his wife.  

Today I have been clearing out, I sort of got spurred on by going out at the weekend.  Under the stairs is now all sorted and everything in its place and I feel really chuffed that its done.  Yesterday also I got 3 boxes of goodies that hubby and I had left with my Mum in 2003 when we moved to Spain and never bothered to collect and do you know in it I found my grandfathers war medals from 1914 to 1918 and his old gold pocket watch and various other bits and pieces.  What an appropriate day to find all of that, it was quite tear jerking.  Believe it or not the watch which was made in 1904 once wound up actually worked and is still working today absolutely unbelievable!  I have had such a good weekend.
