Ate fantastic food in a fantastic pub today which was where the author of the brilliant book Cider with Rosie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cider_with_Rosie used to drink and base his stories of his life in the area. Hes even buried in the church overlooking the pub and his headstone actually faces towards the pub as he wanted to be able to see it everyday! I cant believe it is the local of some of hubby's family who we went to visit today. Absolutely loved the book and Laurie Lee was such a brilliant author he made the story, and others, come alive and I, for once in my life felt so happy that I had visited that little spot in the country. I can honestly say I feel rejuvenated since lunch time and I realise I really need to get out of my own little bubble much more often. I cant often say I feel extremely happy but today I have had the most wonderful time and I also got to visit where I was brought up as a child as an added bonus as its not too far away from there. Everyone got to eat a Sunday typical English roast dinner of beef, but as Im not a great meat eater I chose the Sea Bream, with beetroot, green beans, capers and new potatoes in a Bloody Mary sauce, the taste was just out of this world! All this from a small country pub with just a few tables and views of the valleys to die for ..... priceless lol.
