Had an absolutely fab time yesterday cos I met someone new and I felt that we had known each other for years. I took some photos and have to download them when I can find the damn cable I need..... typical when I tidy up I cant find anything grrrrrr, so more about that later.
Sadly though as I was having an great time my mum was having a sad time, she phoned me up in the evening to say one of her best friends had died yesterday, she did not wake up from her sleep, yet in the day and evening she had been fine. I went to visit my mum today and she looks very sad and pale and it made me think it must be an awful feeling when you reach a certain age and your friends begin to pass away. I know how I felt when my friend Helen died and I had only really known her a few years. My mum had known Sadie for about 50 years and they regularly visited each other or went out for lunch, talked on the phone or just practised their german with each other and they were great friends. We used to joke that they were the oldest pub goers in town as they used to go and have coffee in a very trendy bar, normally frequented by the younger age group one that I even feel too old for .. but Mum and Sadie loved it .... Im glad they always were a bit different. So, as I met a new friend my Mums friend who had served in WW2 in the WRAF passed away ......... life is a funny old thing at times.

I am sorry to hear about your mom's friend - you have to watch your mom closely as she might get depressed and you want to keep her off of that lane...
